Mechanical Design Engineer II

Qualifications

  • AA or equivalent with 7 years experience or BSME with 3 years of experience.
  • Two years of experience working with advanced manufacturing processes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering materials.
  • Composite experience a plus but not required.
  • Electronics and/or antenna industry background.
  • Proven track record of successful design projects.

Job Purpose

JEM Engineering is looking for a seasoned engineer to help create mechanical engineering designs and related fabrication drawings on tactical antenna systems. We are looking for someone who can support roles on various design projects creating piece part designs and complete vendor research as applicable. The engineer would use JEM’s configuration management tools to document new designs, modifications, and Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). Design with 3D modeling and FEA analysis tools are required, preferably using SolidWorks. The engineer will utilize design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) requirements. The engineer will work under immediate supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines for internal configuration management. Our candidate may also perform first article inspection and report per ISO standards

  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design antennas.
  • 3D Solid Assembly Model Development.
  • Fabrication Drawings and Development.
  • Initial Configuration Management Development.
  • FEA Analysis and report.
  • First Article Inspection and report.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma.
  • Certification/Associate’s Degree in Quality Control Management is a plus but not required.
  • Pays strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow drawings and build of materials to determine the specifications of parts and materials.
  • Experienced using test equipment, measuring devices, and computers to record information.
  • Ability to communicate with employees on the production floor and stop the production process when he/she finds defects or flaws in the parts or process.

Job Purpose

A Quality Assurance Technician monitors the production process to determine if the parts or products are meeting quality specifications.

Essential Functions:

  • Inspects parts visually for cosmetic defects and through processes and tests that inspect the functionality of a part or product.
  • Use measuring equipment such as calipers to ensure that a part meets specifications.
  • Use microscopes and magnification lights for visual inspection of parts and product.
  • Use test equipment to determine if a part functions properly and meets customer specifications.
  • Record information from inspections, which may be used to determine sampling quantities on future inspections.
  • Examine materials and parts from the supplier to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Inspect the final product for delivery to customers.
  • Upkeeps calibration of all measuring equipment.
  • Evaluates vendors performance on delivered parts and materials used to build a final product.
  • Assist with any production needs.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.
